To answer this question, it’s probably best that I share with you a defining moment, and resulting compelling story, that brought me to where I am today, coaching people like you on exactly what to do to build your visibility through Online Marketing.
Since 2002 I’ve immersed myself into the Communications world, when I got into Journalism school. From writing articles, to producing videos, all the way to formatting radio programs, and presenting in many formats, in front of the camera, or not, my creative side, together with a sense of achieving a goal and being focused, flourished.
My last job as a Journalist was in the position of Chief Editor for a Business magazine. There, besides interviewing CEOs and Founders of companies on a daily basis, I also had to manage a team of graphic designers, other journalists and contributors that were interviewed for different articles such as Leadership, Financial Matters, Technology for Business and Marketing. One important part of my job was to guide the Marketing team of the Magazine, and receive guidance from them on how to write content for the internet - SEO started to be extremely important and Google was King.
Then, when Social Media came to change the world, I became very attracted to this new way of communicating, primarily because of its instantaneous audience response. I dove right in and learned everything I could at the time – when not too many people knew much of it - and I was successful right from the start in getting readers to engage.
Marketing was a natural path to follow. I started my own business as a Social Media Manager. As I became a Social Media expert, helping my first clients, I understood that some solopreneurs just couldn’t hire me to do all that was needed to do to build visibility online and generate leads. So, I started my first course: Facebook Foundations, where I taught 4 private classes through Zoom, back in 2016!
Right after I had my first students in that course, though, I realized they didn’t have clarity on some foundation principles about their businesses’ marketing, and I needed to add one lesson in my course, to get that out of the way, before I even got to the Facebook lessons. And, as other Social Media platforms started popping up and Facebook itself began to become a more crowded space, I realized they needed much more than just a couple lessons, they needed help in learning all the steps on how to create visibility online, to really generate leads of clients they wanted to work with.
They needed to understand online Marketing as a whole, and create a system that they could follow, without being overwhelmed. Social Media could be a great tool, if used in an efficient and knowledgeable way. That’s how The Digital Academy was born!
